What each player can do here
- All four heroes move the same way; only their animations and sounds differ, so pick whoever you like.
- Team moves only work with a partner: leapfrog over each other for a longer jump, drop a rope from a ledge for the other to climb, and hug to add a heart for both of you (Gamereactor calls that heart temporary).
If your skill levels differ: No seat is harder than another. Each player sets their own starting hearts, so a newer player can take three (or the infinite-health setting) while the other takes fewer. Our suggestionThe surer player goes up first and drops a rope, and you hug whenever one of you is low. Overdue Books
Part 1 of 3. Bring the three tomes back to the Library.
- BothThe chute drops you at Servo's Swing Spot, north of the Library. Use the Tome of Astronomy on the bookcase there, then carry all three tomes to the Library.single source
Right the Wrongs
Part 2 of 3. Free the three heroes and open the way to Grayzar.
- BothThe tomes open a portal for the Hokuns and the bookcase becomes the Tome of History; the three thieves turn out to be the island's old heroes.
- BothFrom here you can fast travel between any mailboxes.
- BothUndo the spell on the PostOfficer, the Peahen Hero and Old Timer; together they open a portal to Grayzar's workshop.
- BothThere is no map inside the workshop: glide, wall jump and ground pound your way up to Grayzar.single source
Where people tend to fall
- Stepping through the portal warns you that some content stays locked until the story is over.
Grayzar (final boss)
Part 3 of 3. Beat Grayzar's three-part gauntlet.
- BothGrayzar's rounds reuse the three thief fights: lit yellow switches, then swing points, then a turning cross of beams over Moon Juice.
- BothEach time he tires, climb up by star platforms or a swing point and stomp his crown. The last stomp ends the fight.single source
Boss
GrayzarThe final boss
- Phase 1: Cone-shaped blasts come down in set spots, then lit yellow switches on shifting walls and conveyor belts, as in the first thief fight.
- Phase 2: More blasts and spike pits, then swing points on each side, as in the second thief fight.
- Phase 3: Blasts and swing points together, then a cross-shaped beam over hanging Moon Juice, as in the third thief fight.
- Two spear-like objects show where the next cone blast will fall.
Extras and notes
- The Tome of History turns every mailbox into a fast-travel point, which makes this the time to go back for collectibles you could not reach before.
