What each player can do here
- Lead glider: picks where the pair goes; swap the lead each time you stop.
- Following glider: roams around the lead and uses a circle of flow on the ground to clean rust, pick up resources or slow a creature that chases you.
If your skill levels differ: For these fights, the steadier player should time the shields; duo attacks need both of you, so call them out. How to split the roles
Beruberu
Part 1 of 3. Make the whale appear and beat it.
- BothGet ready first: max out the relationship and craft tonics and balms.
- BothDo not go back to the Nest for one whole in-game day, roughly 24 real minutes; the ground starts to shake and the screen tears.
- BothSome minutes after the first tremors the whale comes after you and the fight starts.
Where people tend to fall
- Guides disagree on whether you can still eat at a camp before the fight, so be ready to fight hungry.
Lorudo
Part 2 of 3. Find and beat the rust bear.
- BothThe Lorudo, a large dark bear with one red eye, turns up at night on islets with rust; Wakiri is a known spot.
Heliga
Part 3 of 3. Find and beat the winged creature.
- BothYou first see the Heliga near the Nest; after it flies off, you find it corrupted on Nekame.
Boss
BeruberuA huge roaming creature
- Phase 1: Open with duo attacks; they stun it and the stun is your window for more damage.
- Phase 2: It glows red or green: red means Duo-Blast, green means Duo-Impact; the colour changes after it attacks.
- Phase 3: It charges a big, well-signalled attack; shield with both characters before it lands, then hit back.
- Tonics speed up your attacks, which helps a lot because hunger slows you down by then.
- Beating it gives the Massage Oil, used later in a Nest scene.
LorudoA rust creature that appears at night
- Blast, then Impact: Hit it with Blast until it starts giving off green, then switch to Impact.
- Adds: It brings two other creatures and can call them back after you beat them, so expect them to return.
- It drops a piece of hyper-rust when beaten.
HeligaA winged creature
- The healer: Take out its companion first: one of them heals.
- The fight: Shield its attacks; after it acts it is briefly stunned, which is the moment for Blast or Duo-Blast.
- After the fight it stays on the islet and heals you when you visit.
