What each player can do here

P1 · Player 1
  • Each player picks a fighting style: close-up melee, ranged attacks from the back, or heavy armour to soak hits.
P2 · Players 2–4
  • A second player on the same machine joins with their own controller and shares the one screen; up to four can play locally or online. Wander too far from the leader and the game teleports you back.
  • In co-op a downed teammate can be revived by standing near them, and the team only loses a life when everyone is down.

If your skill levels differ: Keep close to anyone who goes down so you can revive them. Our suggestionBased on the role split above: the steadier player takes the melee front, and a newer player hangs back with a bow or wears heavy armour. How to split the roles

The mission

Part 1 of 3. Reach the top of the tower.

  1. BothObsidian Pinnacle opens after Highblock Halls and is the last story mission.
  2. BothChase the Arch-Illager and survive the ambush on the way.
  3. BothPower the two beacons, one on each side of the gate, to open the bridge.
  4. BothRedstone Golems and Evokers guard the rest of the climb; Game8 says the golems can be skipped.

Where people tend to fall

  • Save arrows for the final fights.

The Arch-Illager

Part 2 of 3. Beat the Arch-Illager.

  1. BothHe teleports around and fires spreads of three shots. Game8 and GameWith call them slow, but with mobs around they are easy to lose track of.
  2. BothHe keeps summoning mobs. Thin them out first, since they make his shots hard to see.
  3. BothUse the launch pads around the arena to get away from crowds and find a clear line on him; ranged attacks work best.

Where people tend to fall

  • Game8: when he links to his mobs with an enchanting tether, lure them away from him to break it.

The Heart of Ender

Part 3 of 3. Beat the final boss.

  1. BothIt appears straight after the Arch-Illager. Most launch pads are gone, so plan on dodging on foot and attacking from range.
  2. BothIt crawls around leaving black fire and drops pools of purple flame; don't stand in either.
  3. BothIts big attack is a cross of four lasers that then spins. Don't attack: back off and follow the rotation just behind the beam.
  4. BothWhen copies of its head rise and fire straight lasers, hold still in a safe gap until they stop.
  5. BothHit it in the pauses right after its big attacks.
  6. BothFollow the trail after the fight to finish the story.

Where people tend to fall

  • GameWith's last resort: falling off the edge resets your position for a small health cost and does not count as a death.

Boss

Arch-IllagerThe first form

  1. Attacks: Teleports, fires three-shot spreads and keeps summoning mobs.

Heart of EnderThe final form

  1. Fire: Leaves black fire as it crawls and drops pools of purple flame.
  2. Lasers: Fires a cross of four lasers and spins it around the arena.
  3. Laser heads: Raises copies of its head that fire straight lasers across the floor.
  • Windows Central says the laser cross always turns clockwise.
