What each player can do here
- Mario, Luigi or a Toad: the standard heroes, who get the full effect of every power-up, including the gliding Super Acorn.
- Toadette can take this seat too: the Super Crown turns her into Peachette, who floats, double-jumps and bounces back once out of a pit before landing again.
- Nabbit: enemy attacks never hurt him and his courses start with 100 extra seconds, but power-ups do nothing for him, and pits, lava, poison or getting crushed still cost a life.
- Either player can tuck into a bubble during multiplayer and float along until ready to rejoin; Deluxe uses two buttons held together for this.one guide
If your skill levels differ: Nintendo made Nabbit and Toadette for younger and less experienced players, so the newer player takes one of them. Nabbit ignores enemy hits, which means that seat mostly fails on pits and lava; the more confident player takes Mario, Luigi or a Toad and grabs the power-ups. How to split the roles
The courses
Part 1 of 4. Clear the world's ten courses.
- BothTen courses: seven regular ones, two towers and Roy's castle.
- BothRed and blue switches on the map extend one set of bridges and pull back the other; flip them to reach courses and houses cut off by gaps.
Grinding-Stone Tower
Part 2 of 4. Beat the winged Boom Boom.
Screwtop Tower
Part 3 of 4. Beat the Boss Sumo Bro.
Roy's Conveyor Castle
Part 4 of 4. Cross the lava on falling iron blocks and beat Roy.
- BothConveyor belts drop iron blocks into the lava; ride them across like rafts.
- BothAfter you hit Roy he spins in his shell for a while; stay out of its path and strike the moment it stops.single source

Roy KoopaThe castle boss
- Bullet Bills: Roy hops between moving platforms firing Bullet Bills, plus the odd homing missile. Take the high platforms to drop onto him; three stomps win.
