What each player can do here
- Any of the eight pups (Chase, Skye, Marshall, Rubble, Rocky, Zuma, Everest and Tracker) can be picked at any time, and each can jump into their own vehicle at a button press.
- Each pup has their own skills, and missions ask for the right one: Zuma's hovercraft for water, Tracker when something has to be tracked.
- The second player drops in after the tutorial. The screen splits, each player picks a pup (both can be the same pup), and either can warp next to the other.
- One review found that at an objective the second player mostly helps by pressing the same action button.
If your skill levels differ: The missions are made for pre-school players. Our suggestionFor a young player: turn on easy character switching in the settings, so pressing the action button in an objective circle swaps to the pup it needs. How to split the roles
Tutorial and first missions
Part 1 of 3. Learn the controls, then take missions from Ryder.
- BothA short tutorial covers walking, jumping and interacting. It cannot be skipped.
- BothStory missions come from Ryder. Each world has ten of them, and finishing them opens up the rest of that world's map.
- BothMost missions come down to switching to the right pup (and vehicle, if needed), following the paw prints to the spot and pressing the action button.
Bringing in a second player
Part 2 of 3. Two-player split screen.
- BothCo-op is local split screen for one or two players.
- BothOnce the tutorial is done, a second player can drop in at any time.single source
Where people tend to fall
- The Xbox store says a controller is needed for two-player split screen. One Xbox review could not get a second player in until every extra controller was unplugged.
Adventure Bay showdown
Part 3 of 3. The world's last story mission.
- BothOnce all ten story missions are done, the last one is a showdown with Mayor Humdinger's blimp.
- BothHumdinger has landed the blimp: move the crates blocking the road, then deal with the blimp's speaker system.single source
- BothBeating the blimp gets back one of the stolen PAW Patrol Day posters.
Extras and notes
- Every world has eight pup tags, one per pup, and each tag can only be picked up by its own pup.
- Every world has five postcards, collected from mailboxes.
- Ten help requests per world are marked on the map from the start; they are mostly fetch jobs with paw prints to follow.
- Pup treats fill a meter that unlocks outfits, vehicle stickers, emotes and more; well over a thousand are spread around the worlds.
