What each player can do here

P1 · Atlas
  • Atlas carries a portal gun with a pair of blue and purple portals; the two pairs work together, so either of you can step through the other's portals.
P2 · P-body
  • P-body carries a portal gun with a pair of orange and red portals; the two pairs work together, so either of you can step through the other's portals.

If your skill levels differ: Both bots carry the same kind of portal gun. Pings let you mark spots and time moves without talking, and failing costs little because a destroyed bot is rebuilt within seconds. How to split the roles

Calibration Course

Part 1 of 1. Learn gestures and the ping tool, then pass cubes across the glass with your partner.

  1. BothWave with the gesture menu, then use the ping tool to pick favorites and mark a spot for the partner.
  2. BothPing the slanted panel above the portal gun so GLaDOS places a portal, then ping a nearby panel to get the gun.
  3. P-bodyPut one portal on each side of the glass wall that is keeping your partner out.
  4. AtlasStep through your partner's portal, hit the pedestal button for a cube, then trade it for the one that comes back and set that in the receptacle.
  5. P-bodyCatch the dispensed cube and toss it through the glass opening to your partner.

Where people tend to fall

  • Dying in goo sends a player to reassembly rather than ending the run; GLaDOS comments on early deaths.
  • Doors can crush a player who stands in the doorway.

Extras and notes

  • High Five gesture (Calibration, by the dual door): after the automatic high five, both of you can pick it from the gesture menu.
  • Weighted Companion Cube flag (Main menu, Robot Enrichment). Equip this flag for your co-op robot from the main menu.
  • High Five achievement (Calibration). Awarded automatically with the automatic high five.
  • Professor Portal achievement (Calibration, online). Finish co-op, then complete Calibration with a partner who has not played before.
