What each player can do here
P1 · Player 1
- Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy or a Toad: grabs the power-ups, takes the hits, and can bring a fallen partner back by touching their ghost before it fades.
P2 · Player 2
- Yoshi or Nabbit: no damage from enemies, but no power-ups either. A Yoshi can carry a partner on its back.
If your skill levels differ: Give the newer player Yoshi or Nabbit: Nintendo recommends them for players just starting out because enemies do not hurt them. The trade-off is that they never transform with power-ups. How to split the roles
The courses
Part 1 of 2. Clear the world and gather Wonder Seeds.
- BothBesides the regular courses there are badge challenges, a Wiggler race, a KO Arena and short Break Time! stages; the palace comes last.
- BothBulrush Express is the toughest regular course here, rated four stars in game.
Pipe-Rock Plateau Palace
Part 2 of 2. Beat Bowser Jr. for the Royal Seed.
- BothHe starts by spinning across the floor in his shell. Wait for the spin to end, then jump on him.
- BothAfter the first hit he shrinks you or himself: first you turn big and he turns small, then he grows huge and tries to ground-pound you.
- BothKeep waiting out each attack before you strike; three hits beat him and the Royal Seed appears.
Where people tend to fall
- Going at him head-on is risky; wait for his attack to finish, then strike.
Boss
Bowser Jr.The palace boss
- Shell spin: Dodge the spinning shell, jump on him when it stops.
- Size swap: You grow and he shrinks; hit him again.
- Giant: He grows and jumps for a ground-pound; dodge, then land the last hit.
Achievements and extras
- 35 Wonder Seeds and one Royal Seed in this world.
- If someone loses a life, the others can touch their floating ghost before the timer runs out to bring them back without losing a life.
