What each player can do here

P1 · Player 1
  • Player 1 plays a Yoshi with the full move set: flutter jump, ground pound, eat enemies and throw eggs. The camera mostly follows Player 1.
  • When the partner rides on your back, you steer both Yoshis and your ground pound sends out a shockwave, but you cannot throw eggs until the rider jumps off.
P2 · Player 2
  • Player 2 is a second Yoshi in another colour with the same moves. Either Yoshi can eat the other and spit them out.
  • Jump onto Player 1's back to ride: you give up moving, but you can throw eggs without running out.

If your skill levels differ: The rider does no moving and never runs out of eggs, while the carrier handles the jumps. Mellow Mode (wings for endless flutter, only one heart lost per hit) can be switched on at any time, even mid-level.Our suggestionFor a newer player: ride on the other Yoshi's back. Ninjarama

Part 1 of 2. Get through the ninja world and its castle.

  1. BothNinjarama can be reached from either branch (Sky-High Heights or Cardstock Carnival) and asks for 15 Smiley Flowers.single source
  2. BothDeceptive Doors is about flipping doors to find the way on.
  3. BothThe Shogun's Castle ends with the Shogun of Skewers. Shift the box lifts to reach him while dodging the spikes that shoot up inside them, then ground-pound him. Three hits beat him.

Gator Train Attacks! (Rumble Jungle boss)

Part 2 of 2. Win the magenta Dream Gem.

  1. BothIn Exploring the Animal Kingdom, the first level of Rumble Jungle, craft rhinos chase you through the level.
  2. BothIn the boss level you ride your own train beside the Gator Train. When it opens its jaws to bite, throw an egg at the engine inside its mouth.
  3. BothAfter each hit it rams your train: flutter-jump onto the next set of cars as yours fall away.
  4. BothIn between, jump the rolling spiked balls and flying ruler bars and watch for falling colored pencils. Eat Shy Guys when they appear to keep eggs. Three hits win.

Shogun of SkewersThe mini-boss

  1. Box lifts: Shift the box lifts to reach him, dodge the spikes, ground-pound him; three times.

Gator TrainThe world boss

  1. First train: Egg the engine in its open mouth; then jump to new cars when it rams you.
  2. Second train: Spiked balls and ruler bars to jump before the next bite.
  3. Third train: Many spiked balls and colored pencils; the third egg in its mouth ends it.
