What each player can do here

P1 · Donkey Kong
  • Player 1 is Donkey Kong: punch, climb and dig through the terrain, tear off chunks to throw, and do all the platforming while Pauline rides along.
  • Pauline's singing turns DK into his Bananza forms, each learned from an Elder in one of the layers.
P2 · Pauline
  • Player 2 is Pauline, riding on DK's shoulder. Aim and fire vocal blasts at enemies and walls (Joy-Con 2 mouse controls or motion aiming), and copy nearby terrain to power up the blasts.
  • A second player can join with a shared Joy-Con, or from another Switch 2 (even a Switch 1) through GameShare with one copy of the game.

If your skill levels differ: DK handles every jump, and Pauline's job is aiming her blasts (and copying terrain to power them up), with motion or stick aiming. Ostrich Elder

Part 1 of 2. Learn the Ostrich Bananza.

  1. BothThe Ostrich Elder teaches the Ostrich Bananza: ride updrafts, flutter a long way and drop egg bombs.

Abracajabya (boss)

Part 2 of 2. Beat the plant witch to open a path to The Junction.

  1. BothAbracajabya pops up away from you and shoots big thorned vines your way. They land just under you, so jump on and run along them to reach it.
  2. BothAt the end of the vine, hit its weak spot on the head as many times as you can before it shakes you off.
  3. BothIt gets more aggressive each round; three hits beat it and open the blocked path to The Junction.single source

Where people tend to fall

  • Later it sends blobs of poison along the vines while you run on them.

  1. Vines: Run up the thorned vines it fires and hit the weak spot on its head.
