What each player can do here

P1 · Kirby
  • Kirby: the only one who copies abilities and uses Mouthful Mode. If Kirby goes down, both of you go back to the last checkpoint.
P2 · Bandana Waddle Dee
  • Bandana Waddle Dee fights with a spear: quick thrusts, a throw aimed with the stick, and a charged spin that lifts him into the air. He cannot float, but he can jump several times in mid-air.
  • He never copies abilities, but his spear hits harder while Kirby holds a stronger Copy Ability. In some Mouthful Modes, such as the car, he rides on top of Kirby and keeps throwing spears.

If your skill levels differ: Give Kirby to the more confident player: only Kirby gets Copy Abilities and Mouthful Mode, and a knocked-out Kirby sends you both back to the checkpoint, while a knocked-out Bandana Waddle Dee can be brought back. Spring-Breeze Mode gives both characters more health and makes enemies easier, and you can change the mode outside a stage. How to split the roles

Reaching the boss

Part 1 of 2. Rescue enough Waddle Dees to open The Brawl at the Mall.

  1. BothBandana Waddle Dee arrives once Point of Arrival is cleared. After that, a second player can join at any time: press + in a stage or in Waddle Dee Town and pick Play Co-op.
  2. BothThe boss stage opens after you have rescued 17 Waddle Dees across the Natural Plains stages.
  3. KirbyMouthful Modes in this level: Car, Cone, Dome, Vending, Stairs and Storage Mouth. Only Kirby can use them.

The Brawl at the Mall

Part 2 of 2. Beat Gorimondo and free the caged Waddle Dees.

  1. KirbyThe ability stands before the arena offer Bomb, Sword and Ice. Kirby takes one; there is also a Sword mission for this fight.single source
  2. BothHis stomps and jumping stomps are slow and easy to read, signalled by a raised foot or a straight leap. Step out of the way, then get in close and attack.
  3. BothBelow about 40% health he winds up and spins around the arena. Keep running and stay well away; when the spin stops he is dazed for a moment, so close in and attack.
  4. BothFrom a distance he pulls rocks out of the ground and throws them, up to three in a row. Keep moving left or right without stopping and they miss.

Where people tend to fall

  • An arm pulled back means a wide sweep. Jump over the arm, or guard and tilt the stick to dodge through it; he sometimes swings twice.
  • A stomp sends a shockwave along the floor. Being in the air (floating) as the foot lands keeps you clear.
  • If he grabs you, wiggle the stick fast; if you fail, he slams you into the floor for heavy damage.

Boss

GorimondoThe Natural Plains boss

  1. Ground attacks: Walks at you, stomps, leaps and lands with a shockwave, sweeps an arm, and pulls rocks out of the ground to throw when you are far away.
  2. Spin (below 40%): Raises his arms and whirls across the arena for several seconds, then stops, dazed.
  • Game8 recommends Ice: freezing him and letting him thaw deals heavy damage, and the Ice guard takes no damage from his attacks.
  • His health is not locked between phases, so enough damage can skip the spin phase entirely.

Extras and notes

  • Missions here: slip between Gorimondo's legs, win using Sword, finish inside 2:00, and take no damage.
