What each player can do here
- Mario, Luigi or a Toad: the standard heroes, who get the full effect of every power-up, including the gliding Super Acorn.
- Toadette can take this seat too: the Super Crown turns her into Peachette, who floats, double-jumps and bounces back once out of a pit before landing again.
- Nabbit: enemy attacks never hurt him and his courses start with 100 extra seconds, but power-ups do nothing for him, and pits, lava, poison or getting crushed still cost a life.
- Either player can tuck into a bubble during multiplayer and float along until ready to rejoin; Deluxe uses two buttons held together for this.one guide
If your skill levels differ: Nintendo made Nabbit and Toadette for younger and less experienced players, so the newer player takes one of them. Nabbit ignores enemy hits, which means that seat mostly fails on pits and lava; the more confident player takes Mario, Luigi or a Toad and grabs the power-ups. How to split the roles
The courses
Part 1 of 3. Clear the world's eight courses.
- BothAcorn Plains holds eight courses: five regular ones, a hidden underwater course, the tower and Lemmy's castle.
- BothThe second course, Tilted Tunnel, has a secret exit; it opens Blooper's Secret Lair and a short cut toward Soda Jungle.
- BothA Balloon Baby Yoshi waits at a spot on the world map; pick it up before a course.
Crushing-Cogs Tower
Part 2 of 3. Climb the tower and beat Boom Boom.
- BothThe climb rides on spinning stone cogs. Do not let a cog pin you against another cog or a wall.
- BothBoom Boom waits at the top; he goes down after three stomps.
Lemmy's Swingback Castle
Part 3 of 3. Cross the lava castle and beat Lemmy on his airship.
- BothMost of the castle is a crossing of swinging platforms above lava; past the boss door a cannon shoots you onto Lemmy's airship.
- BothIf his ball keeps you from reaching his head, wait for him near a wall and wall-jump over it.single source
Boss
Boom BoomThe tower boss
- Charging: He runs back and forth with his arms flailing. Wait near a wall for him to come to you, hop on his head, and repeat until he has taken three stomps.
Lemmy KoopaThe castle boss
- Ball and bombs: Lemmy rolls around on a ball and throws bombs. Step around them, or touch one so it goes off early rather than where you stand.
- Bigger bombs: His bombs grow as the fight goes on. Get a running start to clear the ball and land on his head; three stomps finish him.
