What each player can do here

P1 · Atlas
  • Atlas carries a portal gun with a pair of blue and purple portals; the two pairs work together, so either of you can step through the other's portals.
P2 · P-body
  • P-body carries a portal gun with a pair of orange and red portals; the two pairs work together, so either of you can step through the other's portals.

If your skill levels differ: Both bots carry the same kind of portal gun. Pings let you mark spots and time moves without talking, and failing costs little because a destroyed bot is rebuilt within seconds. How to split the roles

Cooperative Bridges

Part 1 of 8. Bridge the goo with portal-extended light bridges, then drop the ball into the receptacle.

  1. AtlasBlue on the bridge's wall point plus purple on the left wall extends the bridge across the goo.
  2. P-bodyFollow across, then place orange on the bridge wall and go through it to the next platform.
  3. AtlasAfter P-body is on the faith plate, a purple portal on the wall below catches P-body on a bridge.
  4. P-bodyGo back through the blue portal and hit the pedestal button to drop the ball.
  5. AtlasPick up the ball and carry it to the receptacle to open the exit door.

Where people tend to fall

  • The acidic water must be bridged for both players to cross.

Bridge Swap

Part 2 of 8. Keep one hard light bridge alive by swapping portals along the corridor to the exit.

  1. AtlasBlue where the bridge meets the wall, the other on the adjacent wall, extending the bridge down the corridor. Do not stand on it yet.
  2. P-bodyAt the bridge end, place orange on the left panel, then swap the blue portal for red at the junction and climb up.
  3. AtlasThrough the red portal, place blue on the panel to the right; then replace red with purple and follow it to the end.
  4. P-bodyOrange on the bridge-struck panel, red on the wall to the right; go through orange to the dual door.

Fling Block

Part 3 of 8. Place the ball on the receptacle, then bounce into the exit alcove off a faith plate.

  1. AtlasPurple on the panel ahead, then stand on the emitter and shoot purple so the bridge extends under the dispenser.
  2. P-bodyHit the pedestal button, then take the blue portal after Atlas.
  3. AtlasCatch the ball, walk the bridge and set the ball in the receptacle; the exit door opens.
  4. P-bodyCarefully walk past the faith plate to the wall edge, then shoot orange at the bridge-struck panel and red on the ceiling panels.
  5. AtlasStand behind the faith plate and walk into it to bounce off the light surface into the exit alcove.

Where people tend to fall

  • Dying destroys your active portals, so the achievement attempt must restart.

Catapult Block

Part 4 of 8. Fling each player with faith plates and swap portals to keep a bridge under them.

  1. AtlasBlue where the bridge meets the wall; P-body steps on the faith plate; purple directly under blue on a lower wall catches P-body.
  2. P-bodyWalk through the purple portal, then replace blue with orange, which closes purple and removes the lower bridge.
  3. P-bodyAt P-body's apex, shoot through the light bridge to swap purple for red, restoring the lower bridge under P-body.
  4. P-bodyLook up at the angled panel above; the red portal is moved there to extend a bridge down to the platform.

Where people tend to fall

  • A narrow corridor beside the route has no floor.

Bridge Fling

Part 5 of 8. Trade blue, orange, purple, red portals to build bridges that fling each partner across.

  1. AtlasBlue goes on the floor next to the up arrow and purple above the faith plate; the plate then drops you on the platform.
  2. AtlasStep on the plate and, mid-air, shoot blue at the wall to create a bridge underneath.
  3. P-bodyRed goes where Atlas's first blue portal was; take the plate to the platform and walk into purple.
  4. AtlasShift blue to the panel at bottom left: the bridge under you vanishes and a new one appears at a right angle.
  5. P-bodyRoles reverse: P-body swaps blue for orange and places red to bridge the room for Atlas.

Turret Walls

Part 6 of 8. Block turret fire with bridges and portal shields, then carry the ball to its receptacle.

  1. AtlasPlace a portal where the vertical light bridge meets the wall and another on the panel beside it to block turrets.
  2. P-bodyPut a portal on the clear wall next to you and orange on the panel left of the stairs, then walk into orange.
  3. AtlasPurple on the panel right of the next stairs, blocking the right-side turrets.
  4. P-bodyRed where the light surface strikes down the corridor blocks the remaining turrets; later a red on the alcove's rightmost panel extends a shield, after moving red to the left panel.
  5. AtlasMove purple next to red to form a bridge behind the shield; quickly press the button, step back, then put the ball in the receptacle.

Where people tend to fall

  • On the upper stairs the turrets can see you and will fire.
  • Catch the ball before it reaches the goo.

Turret Assassin

Part 7 of 8. Shield your partner, then use the button to drop balls and a cube onto turrets.

  1. AtlasStay behind the glass; purple on the bottom-right panel shields P-body from the turret.
  2. P-bodyOrange goes on the ceiling over the faith plate and red on the slanted panel next to the turret; the plate throws you over.
  3. AtlasQuickly move purple one panel up to shield P-body; the glass blocks the bullets aimed at you.
  4. P-bodyThe pedestal button throws two balls and a cube through the red portals into the turrets; do it again for the next row.
  5. AtlasGet off the button, take the cube and set it on the button to keep the panel above open, then portal across to P-body.

Where people tend to fall

  • One turret can still see you at an angle, so stay out of its line.

Bridge Testing

Part 8 of 8. Retrieve balls through fizzlers, time two switches, then fling together to the exit.

  1. AtlasWalk through the fizzler to grab the ball from the horizontal dispenser; hold the ball up to the panel without touching the fizzler.
  2. P-bodyFire a portal through the grate over the fizzler onto the panel near Atlas, then wedge the ball into the alcove to break the laser.
  3. AtlasThe button halts the conveyor. Blue goes on the hard light panel and purple on the beam panel to bounce the balls; then move purple to the slanted panel.
  4. BothThrow both switches at once, using the ping tool's timer.
  5. BothAtlas portals the panel and P-body fires through the hard light bridge; you both get thrown across to the platform with the exit.

Where people tend to fall

  • Falling off the course route means falling to your death.

Extras and notes

  • Portal Conservation Society (Fling Block). Finish the chamber in five total portal placements, on the first attempt.
  • Can't Touch This (three chances) (Turret Walls). Stand where turrets would hit you behind a hard light shield and perform the dance gesture; each player earns it.
  • Can't Touch This achievement: perform a dance by a turret that a hard light shield is blocking (possible in Turret Assassin).
  • Hug Gesture (Bridge Testing, landing platform). Performed automatically on landing and unlocked in the gesture menu.
  • Security disc (Bridge Testing, office). Have one player grab the disc from a desk and put it in the player.
  • Bridge Building (Course 3 completion). Awarded for finishing all Course 3 test chambers, which happens here if done in order.
