What each player can do here

P1 · Player 1
  • Mario, Luigi, Peach, Daisy or a Toad: grabs the power-ups, takes the hits, and can bring a fallen partner back by touching their ghost before it fades.
P2 · Player 2
  • Yoshi or Nabbit: no damage from enemies, but no power-ups either. A Yoshi can carry a partner on its back.

If your skill levels differ: Give the newer player Yoshi or Nabbit: Nintendo recommends them for players just starting out because enemies do not hurt them. The trade-off is that they never transform with power-ups. How to split the roles

Getting in

Part 1 of 3. Find the way into the Special World.

  1. BothEach world has a hidden entrance to the Special World, opened by clearing certain courses there, sometimes by their secret exit.

The courses

Part 2 of 3. Clear the five-star courses.

  1. BothNine courses lead up to the last one: a special course for each world and the Petal Isles, then the Semifinal Test and the Final Test. Every one is rated five stars.

The Final-Final Test: Badge Marathon

Part 3 of 3. Clear the hardest course in the game.

  1. BothIt stays locked until you have cleared the final battle and collected every Wonder Seed, 10-flower coin and golden flag up to that point.
  2. BothIt is ten rooms, and each one switches you to a different badge that you must use to get through.
  3. BothThere are only two checkpoint flags in the whole course, so expect to replay rooms.

Achievements and extras

  • If someone loses a life, the others can touch their floating ghost before the timer runs out to bring them back without losing a life.
