What each player can do here

P1 · Mario
  • Mario: all the running, jumping and captures. There are no lives; when Mario is defeated he drops 10 coins and goes back into the level.
P2 · Cappy
  • Cappy: flies freely but only within a set range of Mario, jumps and ground-pounds on its own, clears hazards off the ground, and can give Mario about a second of float once per jump.
  • Until Player 2 presses a button, Cappy simply hovers above Mario's head, and it keeps moving even while Mario is inside a capture.
  • Start two-player from the + menu under Two Players; pressing left on the directional buttons swaps who plays Mario.one guide

If your skill levels differ: The newer player takes Cappy: it cannot get lost, because it stays within range of Mario and simply rides on his head until moved. The Cappy player's clearest way to help is the float boost, once per jump. How to split the roles

Underground caverns

Part 1 of 2. Get past Madame Broode.

The final battle

Part 2 of 2. Stop the wedding.

Boss

Madame BroodeThe Broodal leader

  1. Rematch: Her Chain Chomp now wears several hats, and she swipes more often while you control it. Knock off every hat, capture the Chomp and slingshot it into her three times.

BowserThe final boss

  1. Rematch: The fight follows the Cloud Kingdom one: capture his hat and punch him, but he is more aggressive, with fiery shockwaves and bombs.
  2. Spiked balls: From the second hat on he throws flaming spiked balls that you cannot punch through; dodge them. Three rounds of hits win.
