What each player can do here

P1 · Gatherer
  • Gatherer: cuts wood and digs iron, carries it all to Storage (the Crafter draws from there on its own) and takes the bucket when the engine is getting dry.
P2 · Track layer
  • Track layer: lifts track off the Crafter and puts it down ahead of the train; between loads, opens the route and keeps an eye out for hazards.

If your skill levels differ: Blueprinted's two-player split gives one player gathering and water and the other track and hazards, and says both drop everything to lay track when the train is about to run out. Tides, clouds and crabs

Part 1 of 2. Mine iron at low tide.

  1. BothThe tide changes every 30 seconds and stays as it was while you are at a station.single source
  2. GathererWhen the tide is in, iron sits under the water where you can't mine it, blow it up, stand on it or bridge it, so collect iron while the tide is out.
  3. BothClouds go for the tallest stack on the ground and shove its top item into the water; keep stacks low and back from the shore.
  4. Track layerA crab in your arms dries the nearby water into sand and exposes the iron below it.
  5. GathererCrab milk gives five Multitool stacks, a tool that works on trees and rocks alike.
  6. BothA Bridge wagon or a Turret wagon can shoot iron that is underwater.single source

Boss: Octoboss

Part 2 of 2. A race to hit every tentacle.

  1. Track layerHit every tentacle before the boss goes under. Any tool works, and so does placing a bridge on one.
  2. GathererCarry a crab to undo the water the tentacles leave behind; nothing else reverses it.
  3. BothBank wood at the station before the fight, because it is scarce on this level.

Boss

OctobossIsland boss

  1. Low tide: Arrives and drops the whole map to low tide, except a small area around itself.single source
  2. Tentacles: Tentacles fling blobs of water; where they land, sand turns into water for good, even after the tide goes out.single source
  3. Submerge: If any tentacle is still up when it dives, high tide spreads across the map from the boss until it comes back up.
  • A levelled Turret wagon knocks back every tentacle almost instantly, the best counter to this fight.
  • The wiki and Blueprinted both say dynamite and torpedoes do nothing to tentacles; an Early Access Steam guide from 2024 still lists torpedoes.
