What each player can do here

P1 · The Lamb
  • Player one is the Lamb for the whole campaign; the Goat is player two. The update that added co-op made it local only.
P2 · The Goat
  • The Goat joins from the pause menu on a second controller. The two players can trade weapons, get extra damage fighting back to back, and land a critical hit when their attacks connect together.

If your skill levels differ: Weapons can be swapped between the Lamb and the Goat, so give the newer player whichever weapon they handle best and keep the two of you close for the back-to-back bonus. The store page also lists a difficulty choice. How to split the roles

Getting in

Part 1 of 5. Open the door and learn the run structure.

  1. BothAnchordeep is the far-left door north of the cult and needs at least 9 Followers; Helob also sells Followers.
  2. BothRuns here have three, four and five rooms before each miniboss, and the fourth run has five rooms before Kallamar.single source

Run 1: Saleos

Part 2 of 5. Beat the first miniboss.

  1. BothSaleos charges at you and bursts spikes at the end of the charge; on the floor an arrow shows the direction. It is stuck for a moment afterwards, which is your time to hit it.
  2. BothIt also sends spike waves along the ground, in lines and in rings. Head toward the edge so a ring spreads out, then slip through a gap.
  3. BothDon't linger next to it: spikes also burst straight out of its body.

Run 2: Haborym

Part 3 of 5. Beat the second miniboss.

  1. BothHaborym brings in other Anchordeep enemies, including chargers and exploders. Clear them as soon as they show up.
  2. BothIts shots come as expanding rings and as a spinning spiral. Roll through the gaps and close in when the volley ends.

Where people tend to fall

  • TechRaptor notes that it warps around to keep its distance; Gamepressure calls its fire rings the troublesome part and says they need a well-timed dodge.

Run 3: Baalzebub

Part 4 of 5. Beat the third miniboss.

  1. BothBaalzebub dashes to a new spot and then fires: tight groups of four fireballs that burst after a moment, plus waves and rings.
  2. BothOnce a volley has gone out, run in and hit it, then get away before the next one.

Run 4: Kallamar

Part 5 of 5. Beat the Bishop of Anchordeep.

  1. BothKallamar opens by calling in minions. Clear them as they come so they don't crowd you during its projectile attacks.
  2. BothIt sinks into the floor and comes up somewhere else, so keep moving and re-find it after each attack.
  3. BothWeave through its large radial fireball waves. Right after a big projectile attack it pauses, which is the moment to roll in and hit it.
  4. BothWhen it pulls back the sword arm and glows, get well clear; the swing covers a long distance.
  5. BothFrom about half health it attacks longer and harder and turns up next to you more often. Take a couple of hits when it lands near you, then move away.

Where people tend to fall

  • IGN singles out the fast fireball stream that follows you: cross the arena on foot, because rolling keeps you in its path.

Boss

SaleosThe first miniboss

  1. Attacks: Direction-marked charges ending in a spike burst, plus spike waves in lines and rings.

HaborymThe second miniboss

  1. Attacks: Summons other enemies and fires expanding rings and spirals of shots.

BaalzebubThe third miniboss

  1. Attacks: Dashes, then fires bursting groups of fireballs, waves and rings.

KallamarThe Bishop of this region

  1. First half: Summons minions, teleports through the floor, fires fireball waves and rings, and winds up a long sword swing.
  2. From half health: Attacks longer and more often and warps toward you.

Extras and notes

  • Beating Kallamar gives a Heart of a Heretic; the door it unlocks leads to a short talk with The One Who Waits.
