What each player can do here

P1 · Kirby
  • Kirby: copies abilities and throws Friend Hearts at enemies to turn them into friends, for a party of up to four.
P2 · Friends (Players 2–4)
  • A friend: a new player presses a button on a connected controller, and the friend appears with Kirby's current ability. Players can drop in or out at any time; empty seats are filled by computer-controlled friends.
  • Friend Abilities: the player with a weapon ability raises it, and a player with an element (fire, ice, water, wind, electricity) hits it to power it up.

If your skill levels differ: Kirby builds the party with Friend Hearts, so the steadier player usually takes Kirby. A newer player can join as a friend for one stage and leave whenever they like, since anyone can drop in or out at any time. How to split the roles

The stages

Part 1 of 2. Clear the stages to reach Sacred Square.

  1. BothThe first letters of the stages spell FRIENDS: Friendly Field, Reef Resort, Inside Islands (extra), Echo's Edge, Nature's Navel, Duplex Dream (extra) and Sacred Square.

Sacred Square: Meta Knight

Part 2 of 2. Win the sword duel.

  1. KirbyKirby has to pick up the Sword ability before Meta Knight will fight.
  2. BothMeet his lunges with a sword swing: the blades clash and he is stunned for a moment. Friends with sword abilities can do this too.
  3. BothAfter he has taken enough damage he splits into copies and stone pillars appear. Break a pillar before he slashes through it and that copy gets its sword stuck in the ground, open to attack.

Where people tend to fall

  • Gameranx says he splits into four; WiKirby says the number of copies depends on how many players there are (two with one or two players).

  1. Sword: Flies around the arena and lunges with his sword.
  2. Copies: Splits into several copies that slash through stone pillars.
