What each player can do here

P1 · Gatherer
  • Gatherer: holds the axe or the pickaxe, carries wood and iron to the Storage wagon, and grabs the bucket when the engine runs hot.
P2 · Track layer
  • Track layer: takes finished track off the Crafter, lays it ahead of the train, clears the path when no track is ready and deals with the creatures.

If your skill levels differ: The wiki and Blueprinted both say only one player should lay track, and a lower difficulty means more resources and less unbreakable rock. Our suggestionWhen skill levels differ: give track laying to the steadier player, and let the newer player own one tool and keep resources coming. How to split the roles

Terrain and heat

Part 1 of 2. No rain from here on.

  1. GathererRain never falls again from the Desert onward, so cooling is all down to the bucket and the Tank.
  2. BothWater is scarcer than in the Plains; it can still be bridged with wood.
  3. BothThere is more unbreakable black rock than in the Plains, so plan the route around it.
  4. GathererOne player on full-time cooling is the advice here.single source

Outlaws and camels

Part 2 of 2. Two threats to your materials and your water.

  1. Track layerOutlaws steal like bandits and can also pick up track you already laid; kill them at once with the axe, pickaxe or dynamite.
  2. GathererCamels follow the water bucket and drink it empty, so keep it away from them unless you mean to milk one.
  3. GathererCamel milk lets you carry twelve items at a time.
  4. BothFlamingos on the water die if you bridge over them.
