What each player can do here

P1 · Luigi
  • Luigi holds the Poltergust G-00 and the flashlight: stun ghosts with the Strobulb, then vacuum and slam them. The run only ends if Luigi runs out of health.
  • Super Suction, unlocked on this trip, lets the vacuum pull away heavier things such as the wreckage blocking the floor.
P2 · Gooigi
  • Gooigi walks over spikes and slips through bars and tight spaces that stop Luigi. Water and fire empty his health at once and send him back to Luigi.

If your skill levels differ: Losing health is never game over for Gooigi; the run only ends when Luigi runs out. So the newer player usually takes Gooigi and the steadier player takes Luigi. How to split the roles

Super Suction

Part 1 of 2. Get E. Gadd the part he needs.

  1. BothThe floor is blocked by boat wreckage. Go back down to the Boilerworks to find the missing Toad and the part E. Gadd needs.
  2. BothLuigi turns a valve to change the water flow so Gooigi can get through; Gooigi then jumps on the cardboard box to find the missing Toad.
  3. LuigiE. Gadd then gives you Super Suction; use it to clear the wreckage on the 12th floor.

The pirate ship

Part 2 of 2. Beat the shark captain on his ship.

  1. BothHe merges with the deck and lunges with his mouth open; sidestep. Vacuum up the powder kegs the other ghosts throw and fire them into his mouth to force him out.
  2. BothOut in the open he swings his hook; when it sticks in the deck, flash and vacuum him.
  3. BothWhen he tips the ship up, Suction Shot the target board at the front and hold on until it levels out.

Boss

  1. In the deck: Powder kegs into his mouth until he comes out.
  2. On deck: Wait for the hook to stick, flash, vacuum; hang on with the Suction Shot when the ship tilts. You get the Fitness Center button.

Achievements and extras

  • Six gems are hidden on this floor, and a Boo turns up here once you have the floor's elevator button and come back later.
  • Super Suction also opens a few gems on earlier floors, so it is worth a return trip.
