What each player can do here

P1 · Cody
  • Size change: Cody grows big for heavy buttons and switches, or shrinks small enough to fit through tiny holes.
P2 · May
  • Gravity boots: May walks up walls and across ceilings along the glowing star paths.

If your skill levels differ: You keep the same character for the whole game, so pick once: IGN's guide gives May most of the precise aiming, platforming and fighting from The Tree on, so the more experienced player usually takes May. How to split the roles

Pillow Fort

Part 1 of 10. Cross the pillow fort and get into the space section.

  1. BothThe fort is mostly a walk-through; head forward. For the first minigame, keep right and climb the pillows.
  2. BothIn front of the TV, take the joysticks and solve the simple picture puzzles; that starts the cutscene into space.

Spaced Out

Part 2 of 10. Clear two sets of three portal puzzles and reach the baboon.

  1. BothAt the fire door, May walks the yellow path up to the ceiling and pulls the door up; small Cody slips through the gap.
  2. CodyBig Cody presses the large red button to open the way forward.
  3. BothTo start a robot, May pulls the lever while small Cody climbs inside and pushes the battery back into place.
  4. BothA working robot lifts you up an anti-gravity shaft to the first three portals.
  5. BothGreen portal: a side-on stage. Ground-pound the folding platforms, and hit both ends of the seesaw at the same time.
  6. BothRed portal: ride the rail, then hop between the planet models; May stands on a big planet while big Cody pushes it.
  7. BothPurple portal: May balances on a large glass ball while Cody rolls it along.
  8. BothSecond set, pinball: Cody rides the ball and steers left and right, May opens and closes the walls at the right moment.
  9. BothAfter the last puzzle, turn both wheels and finish the pipe puzzle with ground-pounds to reach the boss.

Where people tend to fall

  • Gamepur and SegmentNext do not agree on how many portals come after the purple one; follow the doors that light up.

Hopscotch

Part 3 of 10. Cross the play mat, the toy school and the kaleidoscope.

  1. BothOn the rails with the animal buttons, one of you rides while the other stands on the buttons; look at each other's half of the screen.
  2. BothCross the fidget-spinner course, which Gamepur calls the hardest stretch of this segment.
  3. BothThe segment ends inside a kaleidoscope.

Train Station

Part 4 of 10. Clear the line for the hand cart.

  1. BothMove the toy townspeople into place (the railway worker, the couple, the conductor) until the barrier lifts and the hand cart can pass.

Dino Land

Part 5 of 10. Get two toy dinosaurs across together.

  1. BothOne of you drives the big green dinosaur, which works like a crane; the other is the small red one, which cannot jump.
  2. BothThe small red dinosaur ground-pounds switches to move the platforms and flip which side the handles are on.
  3. BothThe green dinosaur holds on to a handle to stop it flipping sides.

Pirate Ahoy

Part 6 of 10. Row the toy boat and beat the octopus.

  1. BothPaddle together: to turn right, the player on the left paddles harder.
  2. BothShoot the tentacles first to protect yourselves, then aim at the octopus.

The Greatest Show

Part 7 of 10. Get the marble through the circus.

  1. BothRoll the marble along with the hamster wheels.
  2. BothOn the tightrope unicycle, pedal steadily: too slow or too fast and you fall.
  3. BothAt the trapeze, time your swings to pass the marble from one of you to the other.

Once Upon a Time

Part 8 of 10. Reach the castle and knock down its gate.

  1. BothLook for the TV screen before the castle for the Birdstar minigame, then break the gate with the bowling-ball wrecking ball.

Dungeon Crawler

Part 9 of 10. Fight through the castle as an ice mage and a fire knight.

  1. BothNew powers here: Cody is an ice mage (freeze lava into platforms, teleport past bars, fire ice from range) and May fights with a fire sword and a dash.
  2. BothWhen the cooking doll chases you, break what is in your way and ignore the enemies where you can.
  3. BothMake the troll hit all four chains around the arena, then charge it into the lava in the middle.

The Queen

Part 10 of 10. Catch the runaway queen with the claw machine.

  1. BothDrop the claw where the queen is running to, not where she is now.

Boss

Moon BaboonThe space boss

  1. Phase 1: One player stands on the buttons to raise his power cores while the other leads his lasers onto them.
  2. Phase 2: Once his laser gun is gone, jump onto his homing missiles and steer them back at his ship.
  3. Phase 3: Small Cody gets into the ship to wreck it from the inside while May survives a wall of lasers.
  4. Phase 4: Last, May flies the baboon's ship while Cody runs the laser and the radar; May steers by watching Cody's half of the screen.

Giant OctopusThe sea boss

  1. The fight: Shoot the tentacles, then the octopus, while paddling as a team.

Minigames in Rose's Room

Optional head-to-head games for the two of you; each counts toward the minigame achievement.

  • Tank Brothers

Where: Pillow Fort: keep right after you enter and climb the pillows to the two handheld consoles.

Aim and fire in an arc; first to hit the other three times wins.

  • Space Walk

Where: Spaced Out, around the anti-gravity shaft (the two guides place it differently).

Jump on squares to score in 60 seconds.

  • Laser Tennis

Where: Spaced Out, at a portal halfway up the shaft, before the second set of puzzles.

Ground-pound buttons to fire lasers at each other and dodge.

  • Rodeo

Where: Hopscotch, before the number-block platforms: look up for two bull figures.

Press the prompted button as the circle closes; the worse rider is thrown.

  • Feed the Reptile

Where: Hopscotch, behind the large abacus after the animal-button rails.

Throw red balls into the reptile's mouth.

  • Batting Team

Where: Hopscotch, at the baseball toy opposite the piggy bank.

Swing on the prompt and keep hitting the spinning ball.

  • Birdstar

Where: Once Upon a Time, at the TV screen before the castle.

A rhythm game that gets faster.
