Marvel Cosmic Invasion Couch Co-op: 4 Players, Every Console
Marvel Cosmic Invasion couch co-op seats up to 4 on one console on Xbox, Switch, Switch 2 and PlayStation, 4 online too, and each player brings two heroes.
TL;DR: Xbox lists Xbox local co-op (2-4) and prints its Shared/split screen label. Nintendo lists Single system (1-4) on Switch and Switch 2, PlayStation 1 - 4 players. Online also tops out at four, behind Game Pass or PS Plus on console. Each player picks two heroes and can swap. $29.99 on PlayStation, from $29.99 on Xbox. Checked Oct 26, 2026.
Up to four people can share one console for Marvel Cosmic Invasion couch co-op, and every console store we read says so in its own words. That makes the sofa easy, so the real choice is which console's online rules suit the friends who cannot come over.
As of Oct 26, 2026: Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation Store pages re-read that day; Steam from an archived store page of Aug 3. The Marvel Cosmic Invasion game page shows the latest check.
Key Takeaways

- Drop-in play. Dotemu says friends can join and leave mid-game.
- Two heroes each. The Cosmic Swap tag-team system.
- $29.99. PlayStation, and from $29.99 on Xbox, checked Oct 26.
Marvel Cosmic Invasion couch co-op? (quick answer)
Yes, for up to four players on one console. The Xbox store lists Xbox local co-op (2-4) and prints its Shared/split screen label, Nintendo lists Single system (1-4), and the PlayStation Store lists 1 - 4 players. Pick it for a group of three or four.
Chart: CouchCoopDesk, Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation pages checked Oct 26; Steam archived page Aug 3.
What happens on the screen is a different question. Xbox uses one label for shared and split screens, Nintendo and PlayStation print no screen field, and no page we read describes the view splitting in two.
Overview
Tribute Games made it and Dotemu publishes it. The Xbox store and Nintendo both give a December 1, 2025 release, and the Xbox store rates it Everyone 10+. It is on our co-op games to play with kids list, which takes games rated E or E10+.
| Store | Players on one console | Screen label | Online | Price (date) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox store | Xbox local co-op (2-4) | Shared/split screen | Online co-op (2-4) | $29.99+ (Oct 26) |
| Nintendo (Switch, Switch 2) | Single system (1-4) | No screen field on this store | Online (1-4) | Not printed for the base game (Oct 26) |
| PlayStation Store (PS4, PS5) | 1 - 4 players | No screen field on this store | Up to 4 with PS Plus | $29.99 (Oct 26) |
| Steam (archived page) | Shared/Split Screen Co-op | Shared/Split Screen | Online Co-op | Not used (archived) |
Here the stores disagree only at the bottom of the range. Xbox counts two to four in its co-op fields, while Nintendo and PlayStation start their ranges at one. The ceiling is four everywhere.
Desk note: 140 games in our database list a seat count on two or more console stores. 62 of them seat four on every one of those stores, and 42 of the 62 also list four players online somewhere. Marvel Cosmic Invasion is one of the 42, next to the games on our 4-player local games list. If half the group lives elsewhere, these are the games that do not shrink.

Analysis: drop-in play and two heroes each
Dotemu's press kit promises "local/online play and a drop-in/drop-out adaptive system." Marvel's launch article puts it as battling "alone or with up to three friends in drop-in co-op." For a sofa, that means a late arrival can join a game already under way.
GODEEPER: What the Shared/split screen label covers, and how it differs from online co-op. Split screen vs shared screen vs online co-op
The other twist is the hero count. Dotemu describes the Cosmic Swap system as choosing "two heroes for each level" and switching between them instantly. PC Gamer's review confirms it holds in co-op: "each player chooses not just one character but two." Four players means eight heroes on the roster at once.
Chart: CouchCoopDesk, from the Xbox, Nintendo and PlayStation listings, checked Oct 26.
Reviews agree on the crowd. Insider Gaming wrote that players "can go solo or play with up to three friends." Into Indie Games called the drop-in co-op "smooth, fast, and unobtrusive."

- Online on console costs extra. Xbox says online multiplayer on console needs Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate. The PlayStation Store says PS Plus is required for online play.
- Game Pass players: the Xbox store calls it cloud playable and included with Game Pass Premium and Ultimate. Our Game Pass split screen games guide lists it among the four-seat games with the label.
- Switch 2 owners: the Switch 2 page lists the same 1-4 seats and a GameShare: Local line. The store does not say how many players GameShare covers. Our Switch 2 local co-op games guide has more four-seat picks.
- Mixed console group? Xbox prints "Xbox cross-platform co-op." The PlayStation page prints no crossplay line.
- DLC heroes: Cyclops and The Thing are a $3.99 add-on on Xbox and Nintendo. The Siege of Castle Doom, Dotemu says, arrives Nov. 10 with Doctor Doom and The Invisible Woman.

Our take
Pick Marvel Cosmic Invasion for three or four on one sofa. Every console store lists four seats on one console, and drop-in play lets a late arrival join mid-game. Online also holds four, so a split group keeps its seats.

What we don't know yet
Whether the November DLC changes anything about seats. Dotemu's release names two new heroes and a new game mode but no player count, and the Xbox and Nintendo pages did not list the DLC on Oct 26.
How we checked this
We re-read the Xbox store page and its add-on page, Nintendo's Switch and Switch 2 listings, both Nintendo DLC pages and the PlayStation Store concept page on Oct 26, plus Dotemu's press kit and its Oct 8 DLC release. Steam fields come from an archived store page of Aug 3; Steam's own site was not reachable. Reviews: PC Gamer, Insider Gaming, Into Indie Games; Game Informer for the DLC. Our Reddit archive searches found no matching posts or returned errors, so there is no player quote. We did not play Marvel Cosmic Invasion for this article.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Marvel Cosmic Invasion couch co-op? Yes. The Xbox store lists Xbox local co-op (2-4), Nintendo lists Single system (1-4) on Switch and Switch 2, and the PlayStation Store lists 1 - 4 players. Dotemu, the publisher, describes local and online play with a drop-in/drop-out system, so a second player can join a run already under way.
Does Marvel Cosmic Invasion have split screen? The Xbox store prints its Shared/split screen label, and an archived Steam page lists Shared/Split Screen Co-op. Both stores use that one label for shared and split screens. Nintendo and PlayStation print no screen field, and no store page we read describes two halves of the screen.
How many players can play Marvel Cosmic Invasion online? Four. The Xbox store lists Online co-op (2-4), Nintendo lists Online (1-4) and the PlayStation Store says it supports up to 4 online players with PS Plus. Xbox says online play on console needs Game Pass Essential, Premium or Ultimate, and Sony says PS Plus is required for online play.
Is Marvel Cosmic Invasion on Game Pass? The Xbox store, read Oct 26, calls it a cloud playable game included with Game Pass Premium and Ultimate. Marvel's launch article said it was part of Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. Online play on an Xbox console still needs one of the paid Game Pass tiers.
Does The Siege of Castle Doom DLC add more players? Nothing we read says so. Dotemu says the premium DLC launches Nov. 10 with Doctor Doom and The Invisible Woman as two new playable heroes, plus a new mode. Neither Dotemu nor the stores state a new player count, so plan on the same four seats until a store says otherwise.
How much is Marvel Cosmic Invasion? $29.99 on the PlayStation Store and from $29.99 on the Xbox store, checked Oct 26. Nintendo's base-game page printed no regular price that day. The first DLC, Cyclops and The Thing, is $3.99 on Xbox and Nintendo. Xbox rates the game Everyone 10+.
