No store we could read lists split-screen for PEAK. Does PEAK have split screen on the console versions launching October 22? Nothing official says so yet, so plan on one screen per climber.

TL;DR: PEAK's Steam listing shows Online Co-op and Single-player, and no Shared/Split Screen label, local co-op category or Remote Play Together. Steam's own text calls multiplayer friends-only, up to four scouts. The PS5 version arrives October 22 with crossplay for up to three friends, and the PlayStation Blog post never mentions split-screen. Checked Oct 21, 2026.

As of Oct 21, 2026: store fields as Steam listed them on our Oct 18 check. The PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 store pages were not readable yet; we re-check them after launch.

Key Takeaways

  • No split-screen in any store field. Steam lists Online Co-op, not Shared/Split Screen.
  • Four climbers, four screens. Steam says you invite up to three other scouts through Steam.
  • Crossplay on launch. The PS5 version adds crossplay with up to three friends on any platform.
  • Consoles are next. PS5 on October 22 per the PlayStation Blog; press reports add Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2.
  • Cheap to try on PC: $7.99 regular price on Steam, checked Oct 18.

Overview

PEAK is a co-op climbing game from Aggro Crab and Landfall. Aggro Crab calls it "a co-op survival climbing game". It came out on Steam on June 16, 2025, and Landfall's page sums up the group size: "Climb with a total of 4 friends".

Field list for PEAK on Steam: Online Co-op yes, Shared/Split Screen not listed, local co-op category not listed, Remote Play Together not listed Chart: CouchCoopDesk, data from Steam's store data, checked Oct 18, 2026.

The question people type is simple. The answer lives in four store fields. Steam shows one yes and three no's.

Steam's page text is just as clear. It reads "Online co-op and offline single player". It also says multiplayer is friends-only: you "invite up to three other scouts through Steam to climb together". Nothing on the page describes two people at one PC.

What the stores list for PEAK

Here is what each store showed for PEAK on our checks:

SteamNo local co-op categoryNo Shared/Split ScreenOnline Co-op, up to 4 with youOct 18
PlayStation StoreNo page found yetNo screen field on this storeCrossplay, up to 3 friends (PS Blog)Oct 21
Xbox storeNo listing foundOct 21
Nintendo eShopNo listing foundOct 21

Steam is the only store with a page to read today. Its categories are Online Co-op, Co-op, Multi-player and Single-player. Shared/Split Screen is not among them.

The PlayStation Store never prints a split-screen field, even for games that have one. Our split screen vs shared screen explainer covers what each store does print. So on PS5 the answer will come from the description or the developers, not a checkbox.

The PS5 version: crossplay, not couch play

The PlayStation Blog post from the developers, dated October 15, sets the date: "Peak is launching on PlayStation 5 October 22." It adds crossplay "so that you can climb with up to three friends no matter what platform they use."

Diagram of four screens, one per climber, joined by crossplay across platforms: PC on Steam, PS5 and two other players Diagram: CouchCoopDesk, from the PlayStation Blog and Steam pages cited below, checked Oct 21, 2026.

The same post says the PS5 version "includes all content updates, biomes, and new items" released since launch. It says nothing about two players on one PS5. Press reports citing Aggro Crab's post on X put PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on the same day, October 22.

Four climbers, four screens. That is the setup the store fields point to.

Desk note: 56 of the 205 games with a Steam listing in our database list online play but no local co-op category and no Shared/Split Screen label. 19 of those 56 are PC-only in our data, PEAK among them, next to R.E.P.O. and Lethal Company. If your group lives on one sofa, these are the games to skip.

Analysis

Store fields can only say yes. A missing label is not a promise that a feature will never come. But PEAK's missing label sits next to text that rules out the sofa: "friends-only", "invite up to three other scouts through Steam".

Bar chart of the 205 Steam games in our database: 147 carry the Shared/Split Screen label, 56 list online play with no local field, 19 of those are PC only Chart: CouchCoopDesk, data from the official stores, checked Oct 21, 2026.

Most of the Steam games we track do carry the label: 147 of 205. PEAK is in the smaller group built for one screen each. That is the honest answer for a couch.

Does that make it a bad pick for two people in one room? Only if you have one screen. With two PCs, or a PC and a PS5 after October 22, crossplay is the whole point.

Two machines in one living room still count as a co-op night. They just don't count as split-screen.

What players say

In r/PeakGame, the question came up as soon as the console date did. A comment in the launch thread on October 15 asks: "Will cross save and split screen be considered for updates? Or is this one and done". A post on October 20 asks: "I’m assuming there will be no split screen for console release?" Neither thread we read had a reply from the developers.

Our take

Skip PEAK for one-screen nights; buy it when every climber has their own screen. Steam lists Online Co-op and no Shared/Split Screen label. Up to four play together, and PEAK is $7.99 on Steam.

For a couch with one TV, pick a game with a store count for one console, such as those in our best couch co-op games guide. We re-read the PS5, Xbox and Switch 2 listings after the October 22 launch and will update this page if any of them prints a local count.

What we don't know yet

Whether the console store pages will list any local play. On Oct 21 there was no PS5 product page to read and no Xbox or Nintendo listing in either store's search. Console prices were not on any official page we could read either.

How we checked this

PEAK's Steam fields come from Steam's store data, read by our importer on a server where Steam resolves (Oct 18). The Steam page text was read through a Wayback copy of Oct 11. We read the PlayStation Blog post, Landfall's and Aggro Crab's PEAK pages and the Insider Gaming report on Oct 21. We also searched the PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo stores that day. Reddit posts were read through the Arctic Shift archive.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does PEAK have split screen on PS5? No store we could read lists it. The PlayStation Blog post for the October 22 PS5 launch talks about crossplay with up to three friends and never mentions split-screen or local co-op. We found no PS5 store page to read when we checked on Oct 21, so no player count is listed yet.

Can two people play PEAK on one PC? Not according to Steam. PEAK's Steam listing shows Online Co-op and Single-player, with no Shared/Split Screen label, no local co-op category and no Remote Play Together. The store text calls multiplayer friends-only, with the other scouts invited through Steam.

How many players can play PEAK together? Four. Steam's page says you can invite up to three other scouts, and the PlayStation Blog says crossplay lets you climb with up to three friends on any platform. No store lists two players on one screen, so plan on a screen for every climber in the group.

Does PEAK have crossplay between PS5 and PC? The developers say so. Their PlayStation Blog post says the PS5 launch adds crossplay, so you can climb with up to three friends no matter what platform they use, which covers Steam. Press reports name Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 for the same October 22 launch.

Is PEAK coming to Xbox and Switch 2? Press reports citing Aggro Crab's post on X say PEAK arrives on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Switch 2 on October 22. We found no Xbox or Nintendo store listing on Oct 21, so the player counts for those versions are not known yet.

How much does PEAK cost on Steam? $7.99 regular price on Steam in our store data, checked Oct 18. Console prices were not on any store page we could read before the October 22 launch, so we do not list them here yet.
