SONIC PICO PARK Local Co-op: 8 on Xbox, 4 on PlayStation
SONIC PICO PARK local co-op: Xbox lists 2-8 players on one console, the PlayStation Store 4. Steam adds Remote Play Together. Out Nov 12 at $9.99 on Xbox.
TL;DR: Xbox lists Xbox local co-op (2-8), the PlayStation Store 1-4 players and 8 network players, and Steam its Shared/Split Screen Co-op label with no count. Neither Xbox nor Steam lists single-player; the publisher says 2 to 8 players. $9.99 regular price on Xbox, no price yet on PlayStation or Steam. Checked Nov 4, 2026.
Eight people can share one Xbox, but the PlayStation Store stops at four, and that gap is the whole SONIC PICO PARK local co-op story before the Nov 12 launch. Choose the console for SONIC PICO PARK by headcount: a group of five or more belongs on Xbox or a PC, while a family of four is fine on PlayStation.
As of Nov 4: Xbox, PlayStation and Steam store data re-read that day; Nintendo's US store had no listing. The Xbox and Steam counts match our database rows from Nov 1 and Nov 2. The November release calendar lists the game under Nov 12.
SONIC PICO PARK local co-op? (quick answer)
Yes. All three store pages carry the same publisher line: "the game supports 2 to 8 players locally or online." Xbox and Steam list no single-player mode at all, so co-op is the whole game.
Xbox prints 2-8 on one console. The PlayStation Store prints 1-4 players. Steam prints a category, not a number, so the publisher's 2 to 8 is the only count for PC.
Overview: how many players each store lists
| Store | On one console or PC | Screen label | Online | Regular price (checked Nov 4) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Xbox store (Xbox One, Series X|S, PC) | Xbox local co-op (2-8) | None | Online co-op (2-8), Xbox cross-platform co-op | $9.99 |
| PlayStation Store | 1-4 players | No screen field | 8 network players, PS Plus required | Not listed yet |
| Steam (Windows) | Shared/Split Screen Co-op, no count | Shared/Split Screen | Online Co-op, Remote Play Together | Not listed yet |
| Nintendo (US store) | No listing found | n/a | n/a | n/a |

The Xbox store listing is the most complete. It runs on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S and PC, and it carries Xbox Play Anywhere. Microsoft's Play Anywhere page says such games "play on XBOX console, PC, and supported gaming handhelds at no additional cost."
The PlayStation page is a concept page for now. It lists players, network players and an ESRB Everyone rating, but no price and no console version. Nintendo is the open question: its US store showed nothing under SONIC PICO PARK on Nov 4.
Analysis: why the PlayStation Store stops at 4
The PlayStation number lines up with the hardware. Sony's accessories support page says of the PS5: "You can use up to 4 controllers at the same time." The store's 1-4 range ends at that same number.
Xbox has no such ceiling in its store field. It prints 2-8 for both local and online co-op. So the same game seats twice as many people on one Xbox as the PlayStation listing promises.
Desk note: Of the 92 Xbox games in our database with a local co-op field, 5 list eight seats or more, and two are PICO PARK games. Of the 74 PS5 games with a player-count field, 1 lists more than four players on one console: The Jackbox Party Pack 9. A party of five or more has a short list on PS5.

A family of four fits on every store that lists the game; a party of six decides the console. The other eight-seat Xbox games are on our Xbox couch co-op list.
Is SONIC PICO PARK split screen?
No store answers that in words. Xbox does not print its Shared/split screen label for this game. Steam prints its Shared/Split Screen Co-op category, which covers a divided TV and a single shared view alike.
GODEEPER: What the Xbox and Steam screen labels cover, and why one label fits two layouts. Split screen vs shared screen vs online co-op
Each stage ends at "the goal plate on the right side," and "the only way to succeed is for everyone to work together." The Sonic layer is new: every playable character gets Sonic's Spin Dash, and stages add "rings, loops, and springs." Eight players with a Spin Dash each is a lot of blue for one couch.
The missing Xbox label is not unusual for the series. PICO PARK 2 shows the same pattern in our Oct 18 data: Xbox local co-op 2-8 and no label, Steam with the label. Our Xbox split screen games guide covers the games where Xbox does print it.
Online, crossplay and Remote Play Together
Online play also tops out at eight on every store that gives a number. The subscriptions differ. The Xbox page says online multiplayer on console "requires XBOX Game Pass Essential, Premium, or Ultimate." The PlayStation page says "PS Plus required for online play."
All three store pages carry the publisher line "Online play also supports cross-play" in the description. Only Xbox names platforms, and its cross-platform co-op tag covers Xbox consoles and Windows PCs. Steam lists no Cross-Platform Multiplayer category, which PICO PARK 2 does carry.
The Steam page holds one detail the others lack. Its description says "up to 7 local players can join online from a single PC." A sofa of three can fill the rest of an eight-player room with friends elsewhere.
Steam also lists Remote Play Together, absent from the first PICO PARK on Steam in our data. Valve's page says "one player owns and runs the game," and up to four others join over the internet, more with fast connections.
GODEEPER: How one Steam copy streams a couch game to friends in other homes, and what each guest needs. Steam Remote Play Together explained
Steam lists full controller support, including DualShock and DualSense pads. It does not say how many pads one PC takes, so the publisher's 2 to 8 is the only count for a PC couch.
SONIC PICO PARK local co-op vs PICO PARK 2
The seat count did not move. PICO PARK on Switch lists Single system (2-8) at $4.99. PICO PARK 2 lists Xbox local co-op 2-8 and costs $8.99 on Xbox, Switch and Steam. SONIC PICO PARK keeps 2-8 on Xbox at $9.99.

On Xbox, SONIC PICO PARK costs one dollar more than PICO PARK 2. It also skips a store for now. PICO PARK 2 sells on Nintendo's US store; SONIC PICO PARK does not, as of Nov 4. SONIC PICO PARK is rated E on Xbox and PlayStation. Both earlier games carry an E in our data too, inside the range our co-op games to play with kids guide is built on.
Our take
Buy SONIC PICO PARK on Xbox or Steam for five or more players; on PlayStation, plan on four. Xbox prints 2-8 seats on one console, and the PlayStation Store prints 1-4, topping out at the number of controllers a PS5 takes. Xbox Play Anywhere puts the PC copy in the same $9.99.
Skip it if you mostly play alone. Neither Xbox nor Steam lists a single-player mode. Switch owners in the US have nothing to buy yet, and PlayStation and Steam prices were still blank on Nov 4. The game page shows the date of each store read.
What we don't know yet
Whether the TV divides or the whole group shares one view: no store or publisher page says. Which platforms the cross-play covers beyond Xbox and Windows, and whether PlayStation players meet Steam players online. Whether the PlayStation version runs on PS5, PS4 or both, and what it costs there and on Steam. Whether a Switch version will reach Nintendo's US store.
How we checked this
We read the Xbox store page and Microsoft's catalog data, the PlayStation Store concept page and Sony's accessories support page on Nov 4. Steam is blocked on our desk machine, so we read Steam's store data and its Steam Deck report through Steam's own API from our server that day. We searched Nintendo's US store and found no listing. We found no player reviews to quote: the game is not out, and we read no Reddit thread for this article. We did not play SONIC PICO PARK.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is SONIC PICO PARK on Game Pass? No, not when we read the Xbox store on Nov 4. The page listed it as a $9.99 pre-order and attached no Game Pass tier to it. That can change after launch, so the Xbox store page is the place to look before you buy.
Is SONIC PICO PARK Steam Deck Verified? Not yet. Valve's compatibility report for the game returned Unknown on Nov 4, which Valve defines as "We haven't checked this game for compatibility yet." PICO PARK and PICO PARK 2 both carry Valve's Verified rating in our Oct 18 data.
